How To Bulk Remove Stars In Google Reader

How To Bulk Remove Stars In Google Reader

I used to add stars to some Google Reader items for later reading, reference, and / or study, but I didn’t remove those stars later, so there were hundreds of starred items in my Google Reader.

Now, I want to clean all the starred items, but I don’t want to remove the stars one by one, so I find out a new way to bulk remove them, and below are the steps:

Step 1. Install the Greasemonkey script Google Reader Kill Stars

Just open your Firefox browser, visit the web page of Google Reader Kill Stars, and then install the Greasemonkey script.

By the way, you need to install and enable the Greasemonkey add-on in your Firefox browser before installing the script.

Step 2. Restart your Firefox browser

In case the Google Reader Kill Stars script doesn’t work after installation, restart the Firefox browser and try again.

Step 3. Open your Google Reader starred items

Log in your Google Reader, click the “Starred items” in the left sidebar, then you will see the items to which you add stars.

Step 4. Drag the scroll bar to the bottom

Drag the right scroll bar to the bottom of Your starred items page, you can wait Google Reader to load more starred items, since the more items you load, the more stars will be removed.

Step 5. Remove all the loaded stars in one click

On the Google Reader page, click Tools in the Firefox browser menu bar, choose Greasemonkey, select User Script Commands, and click Remove Stars in Google Reader, then all the stars loaded in the current page will be removed.

That’s all. And now there is no starred items in my Google reader.
